We are delighted to announce our fourth coaching specific workshop delivered by FA Tutor & Coach Developer, Steve Pritchard, will focus on Differentiation & Understanding Your Players.

Available for members of the WFA community, this workshop will take place on Tuesday, 23rd February at 7:00 pm and will last for about an hour.

The workshop focuses on differentiating practices for your players and how, as coaches, you can work towards catering for different levels of need and ability. The workshop will also highlight how the STEP process can support coaches with this. 

Steve Pritchard is a UEFA A licence coach and FA Tutor with a wealth of experience across football. Steve also has experience within the sport of Powerchair Football,  supporting players at the QAC college in Birmingham, including the delivery of an adapted FA Level 1 qualification.

We are delighted to announce our third coaching specific workshop of 2021 will once again be delivered by FA Tutor & Coach Developer, Steve Pritchard, and will focus on Practice Design.

Available for members of the WFA community, this workshop will take place on Tuesday, 16th February at 7:00 pm and will last for about an hour.

Steve Pritchard is a UEFA A licence coach and FA Tutor with a wealth of experience across football. Steve also has experience within the sport of Powerchair Football,  supporting players at the QAC college in Birmingham, including the delivery of an adapted FA Level 1 qualification. 

The workshop focuses on designing suitable practices for your coaching sessions. It will highlight how to design practices to support player learning, be creative in your thinking and how you can use games to teach understanding.

The workshop will highlight the Plan, Do, Review learning cycle and the principles behind well organised coaching sessions. Participants will also learn about the principles of planning, delivering and evaluating coaching sessions.

How we coach?

We are delighted to announce our second workshop of 2021 will be a coaching-specific session, delivered by FA Tutor & Coach Developer, Steve Pritchard.

Available for members of the WFA community, this workshop will take place on Tuesday, 2nd February at 7:00pm and will last for about an hour.

This exciting workshop will focus on how participants coach; their challenges, how they work across the 4-corner model and how they can use mistakes as a learning opportunity for both themselves and their players.

The FA 4 Corner Model suggests that player development needs to be looked at from a technical, physical, psychological and social point of view – and that no corner works in isolation from the others.

Seated Activity & Exercise

Following the success of our workshops in 2020, we are delighted to announce our first workshop of 2021 is a seated activity & exercise session, with Neuromuscular Physiotherapist, Marina Di Marco.

Marina Di Marco is the Principal Neuromuscular Physiotherapist based in the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow. She has worked in the field of neuromuscular disorders for thirty years and works with both children and adults with muscle-wasting conditions. 

Available for members of the WFA community, this virtual sessions will take place on Tuesday, 26th January and will last for about an hour. As well as delivering the exercise session, Marina will also be talking about the practicalities and benefits of seated activity.

During lockdown and shielding, many people have found it difficult to get into a new routine of activity and movement, and have missed out on their ordinary exercise and physiotherapy activities. Some people may not have had the same support as usual and may not have been able to attend appointments as usual.

We are delighted to announce a very special workshop that is available for members of the WFA community, on the FA’s Talent Pathway for Powerchair Football, with the FA’s Para Talent Confirmation Lead, Will Perkins.

Thursday, December 10th – 6:30 pm

Will focuses on the development of talented para footballers through the FA’s talent pathway. This unique workshop will explain the talent pathway in more detail.

The FA talent pathway for Powerchair Football was established in 2018 alongside the WFA, to support the identification and development of those with elite potential. The aim of the programme is to support the transition of youth players within the WFA League structure through to the England Powerchair Senior Squad.

We are delighted to announce a very special workshop on the England DNA, with Head Coach, Colin Gordon, that is available for members of the WFA community. 

England Head Coach, Colin Gordon, will deliver a unique workshop that details the coaching philosophy and DNA of the England senior Powerchair Football side. This workshop will provide a fantastic insight into their style of play, and the roles and responsibilities of an England Powerchair player.

Optimising player well-being

This session will involve an introduction to mental health and well-being in sports. Players will learn about the various things that can impact athlete mental health both positively and negatively. The aim of this session is to help players to understand that many athletes experience high and low points within their sport. This hopes to support them in feeling part of a community and not alone with any of the challenges they are facing.

We’re delighted to announce that as part of the workshop, Erin will be joined by England and West Bromwich Albion talisman, Chris Gordon.
 
Chris will be available to answer any of your questions regarding his challenges and achievements in Powerchair Football, mindset during games, overall well-being during lockdown and more. You can send your questions in via the registration form, or ask him directly at the workshop.

The primary focus of Chrissie’s first session will be on basic nutrition and understanding ways in which we can lead a healthier lifestyle.

Beginning with hydration and drinks, Chrissie will investigate why we need to stay hydrated, how it helps us in and away from football and the best methods to help us hydrated. She will then move on to the basics of diet to help us understand what we are putting into our bodies, from this she will look into what a healthy plate should look like, moderation and making healthier choices.
