Powerchair Football is a unique sport that provides opportunities for people with a high level of impairment to access the game of football. It is the only active team participation sport for people who use electric wheelchairs. The game is for anyone who uses a powered wheelchair or those who have limited movement in a manual wheelchair.
The sport is fast-paced, dynamic and very enjoyable to watch. The unique nature of Powerchair football allows all ages, disabilities and both genders to compete together. Powerchair Football is much more than just a game. It brings disabled people and families into a world they didn’t know existed and opens their eyes to how life can be. Powerchair football has created friendships, competitive rivalries, memories, and even marriages- it changes peoples lives.
“Powerchair football has changed mine and my families live, we couldn’t imagine life without it!”
Unfortunately, Powerchair football is not a ‘jumpers for goalposts’ type of sport and therefore we need your help! All players require specialist equipment to play, we use a specific type of ball and even our goalposts are different. All in all, this means the WFA requires funding to help get teams up and running, deliver competitions and hold training events. Your money will be used to enhance the lives of people with a high level of disability, to enable them to take part in our version of the nations favourite sport.
We’re offering an exclusive opportunity for a company/organisation to become our sole Cup sponsor. The WFA Cup is a competition that is open to all affiliated Powerchair Football clubs. Teams are drawn and games are played “on the road” in a knockout, round by round format. Every two years, the winner of the WFA Cup gains qualification to the European Champions Cup, the Champions League equivalent of Powerchair Football.
