England National Team
The England Powerchair National Team is a prestigious national sports team that represents England in international powerchair football competitions.
The team is composed of highly skilled players who have been selected through a rigorous process, reflecting their technical proficiency, tactical insight, physical fitness, and unwavering commitment to the sport. This elite team is the pinnacle of the FA’s powerchair football programme.
At the top of this programme is the England Powerchair National Team, which is supported by the England Development Squad, established in 2022. The Development Squad serves as a crucial feeder team, nurturing talent that progresses through the National Emerging Talent Programme. This programme, in turn, is supported by three regional emerging talent programmes, which identify and develop promising players from across the country.
The England Powerchair National Team competes in various international competitions, including the FIPFA Powerchair Football World Cup, EPFA’s Nations Cup – the European Championships equivalent for powerchair football, and various Home Nation-style tournaments. Their notable achievements include winning the 2019 EPFA Home Nations in Pajulahti, Finland, to become European Champions, and being runners-up in the 2023 FIPFA Powerchair Football World Cup in Sydney, underscoring their standing as a leading team in the sport.
